Four steps

How to join a Shared Class

  1. 1

    Start from Courses

    Choose Join Shared Class.

  2. 2

    Enter the class code

Enter the 10-character code and choose Preview class.

  3. 3

    Connect to your planner

Choose an existing personal Course or Create a new course. Suggested class times are editable.

  4. 4

    Open Classwork

Review assignments and tests, then add only what you need.

Your privacy

Connecting does not share your Course schedule or personal planner information. It links the Shared Class to the Course you use in your planner.

Nothing is automatically added to your planner.

Four steps

How to share your Course

  1. 1

    Open Courses

Find the Course you want classmates to share.

  2. 2

    Choose Share class

Youcalyptus creates or restores the Shared Class.

  3. 3

    Confirm the class

Open Classwork and, if needed, edit the Shared Class name or details.

  4. 4

    Share the private invite

Send classmates the invite link or 10-character code.

You are the Owner

Sharing a Course does not create a shared schedule. It shares academic information; personal planner information remains private.

Add Shared Classwork to your planner

Shared assignments and tests stay in the Shared Class until you choose to add them.

Remember

Adding is always your choice. Shared Classwork is never automatically added to your planner. The class supplies the academic information; you supply the planning information.

What is shared—and what stays private

Shared with the class

  • Assignment title
  • Due date
  • Test title and time
  • Shared academic details

Private to you

  • Priority and completion
  • Notes
  • Estimated and remaining time

Can classmates see my schedule?

No. Your classmates can help keep the classwork accurate. They cannot see how you manage it.

Shared Class roles

Roles describe how someone helps the class. They do not grant access to anyone’s personal planner.

Owner

Runs the Shared Class

Invites classmates, manages roles and shared classwork, and can stop or restore sharing.

Contributor

Helps keep classwork up to date

Can publish assignments and tests, and edit or delete only the classwork they personally created. The Owner can also let them invite classmates.

Member

Uses shared classwork

Can view classwork, add it to a personal planner, see new or updated items, and leave the class.

Contributor does not mean co-owner.

New classwork and updates

New

Something new was posted

New means newly posted to the Shared Class. It has not been added to your planner automatically.

Update available

Something you added changed

Your personal copy may be out of date. You decide whether the newer shared facts belong in your planner.

Apply shared update

Optional

Reviewing is not applying

Reviewing clears the notice but does not change your planner. Applying changes the relevant shared academic facts; your priority, duration, progress, completion, and other personal choices stay yours.

Youcalyptus lets you know what changed. You decide what changes in your planner.

Leaving or stopping sharing

Member or Contributor

Leave Class

Your personal Course, imported Tasks and exams, notes, progress, schedule, and study plans stay. Access, new classwork, and update notices stop.

Leaving does not delete work you already added.

Owner

Stop Sharing Class

The Shared Class becomes inactive and its invite stops working. Everyone’s personal planner stays intact. Sharing the Course again can restore the class with a new invite code.

Deleting a Course

A Course connected to an active Shared Class must first be disconnected with Leave Class or Stop Sharing Class.
