Estimated time and remaining time
These answer two different questions.
Estimated time: how long you expect the task to take overall.
Remaining time: how much work is still left for the current schedule.
Auto-schedule plans the remaining work. Adaptive Duration may suggest a future prediction while keeping your estimate visible.
Use priority for importance
Priority helps order work when several tasks can use the same opening.
High priority does not override a deadline that arrives sooner.
Deadlines, remaining time, commitments, and availability still shape what can fit.
Complete or Need More Time
Use the action that matches what happened.
Complete means the work is done.
Need More Time keeps the same task and replaces the amount still remaining.
Finishing a timer records Actual Time but does not automatically mark the task complete.
